Music Production Royalties
(Music Biz)How do you pay production co.s mechanicals to offer their songs as downloads on your website.?
Me (2nd year music business major) and a few friends (webdesign, and journalism) are working on this new project website that will remain unnamed for now, but I have a few questions.
Part of our site is going to have an iTunes-like download feature which will include songs for artists that we write about. Do I go through harry fox and find out who owns the (c) and pay them? How would I go about this?
Also, how do I obtain a legal version of these songs.
If I upload a ripped version from a CD for download and pay them the royalties on these downloads is that illegal?

You can ask for the payment either directly through PayPal Integration, or you can go for some e commerce software. However the most easiest way is using this site.

Register a Seller account there and they take care of all your sales .. they accept PayPal , Credit Card and Google Checkout.
I cant say about royalties. How can you pay them royalties, you don’t have contract with them, then it is surely illegal to sell Music videos. Most of the big companies which sell music have contracts with major music companies..
