Music Production Contest

There are two legends surrounding its inception. The first myth is that a watchmaker named Anton Ketterer of Germany's Black Forest cuckoo added to one of their current clocks around , 1738, and the cuckoo clock was born. The second story is that a peddler of Bohemia (in what is now the Czech Republic) that travel through the Black Forest sold two watches Cuckoo for watchmakers there. He copied the design of the clock and began thriving cuckoo clock Black Forest. Since neither the story can be verified, we will have to settle for part of the story that really know for sure – that came later.
The Black Forest was a watchmaking history, which began by least one hundred years before came to cuckoo clocks Black Forest. Since the winters are hard on the Black Forest, people stayed home and worked in handicrafts. Thus, when the cuckoo clock was introduced in the Black Forest, was a perfect fit for the residents in the Black Forest region. Construction of the cuckoo clocks were given something profitable to do during long, harsh winters, when the fields was latent. In the spring travel vendors sells cuckoo clocks handmade throughout Europe on behalf of the Black Forest craftsman, carrying them in backpacks welcome an audience that quickly grew to love them.
Shield Style – Schilduhr
There are several different styles of cuckoo clocks that emerged in recent years. Initially, most cuckoo clocks were made Schilduhr in hand (or "clock shield") design. These designs were open on the sides and highlighted the mechanical movement of the clock. This style included a half circle above the shield that housed the cuckoo bird. This was the standard style cuckoo clock from the 1750s to the 1850s.
Rail Style House – Bahnh ¤ USLE
In 1850, a watchmaking school in the town of Furtwangen in the Black Forest announced a contest clockcase to create a look that combines the handmade design with the professionalism of a manufactured watch. The winner of the competition was an architect from Italy, which had built houses of the train guards of the new railway line running through the Black Forest. The integrated grape leaves his native Italy in its design, well as the façade of the homes of many who had built railway. This style was popular and is the style of people imagine when they think of Black Forest cuckoo clock.
The cuckoo clocks sold today as souvenirs are based on this winning design. Watches today have some variations on the original house style rail – Some birds, leaves, deer, hunting equipment, or other woodland animals. These watches are synonymous with Germany's Black Forest.
The variations in other countries – Swiss chalet style
In late 1800, Swiss watchmakers felt they could improve the style cuckoo clock, so who designed what is known as the Swiss Chalet style cuckoo. Chalets come in three varieties:
- Black Forest Chalet
- Swiss Chalet
- Bavarian Chalet
Besides adding only the exterior design, the Swiss watchmaker also add music their clocks. They added music boxes from Switzerland (for those who were already known), figures in motion and other animated movies at their watches. These could include children swinging on rope swings, water wheels moving, the figures for beer consumption and lumberjacks. The Swiss cuckoo clocks musical played a song on top of each hour. The song was usually one Edelweis or traditional.
Conclusion
While other countries have reached out to the car, Germany's Black Forest region remains the focus of production of cuckoo clocks. It is more than a source of income for the people of the Forest Black. It has become part of their identity. This close link between people and their product is one of the reasons for the cuckoo clock has a story so enduring and loved in worldwide.
